Junior Auxiliary Prayer

Send us, O God, as Thy messengers to the hearts without a home, to lives without love, to the crowds without a guide. Send us to the children whom none have blessed, to the famished whom none have visited, to the fallen whom none have lifted, to the bereaved whom none have comforted. Kindle Thy flame on the altars of our hearts, that others may be warmed thereby; cause Thy light to shine in our souls, that others may see the way; keep our sympathies and insight ready, our wills keen, our hands quick to help others in their need. Grant us clear vision, true judgement, with great daring as we seek to right the wrong; and so endow us with cheerful love that we may minister to the suffering and forlorn even as Thou wouldst. May the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, rest upon us and upon all our work. May He give us light to guide us, courage to support us, and love to unite us now and forever more. Amen.

STUFF the BUS

Bonnie Rogers, Ashley Baker, Julie Hill and Shannon Wallace braved the heat to collect school supplies for area children. The supplies will be distributed to children whom school counselors and teachers have identified as not having the resources to begin the school year. This service project allows these children to go to school with feelings of pride rather than shame. Over 150 children will be helped this year by donations of supplies and uniforms.

Thank you to Ashley Smith for organizing this service project. Many thanks to West Point residents for donating supplies and uniforms. Our projects would not be a success without your help!

Region IV Conclave

JA Chapter Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Treasurers met at the Starkville Sportsplex Saturday, July 25th to have review new information from NAJA. The Region IV Conclave was conducted by Kerrie Gentry, West Point JA associate member. As Region IV Chapter Support Coordinator, Kerrie answered questions that arise in JA chapters in our area. Kosciusko, Louisville, Starkville, and West Point JA members tossed around ideas on record keeping, fundraising, and service....just to name a few! West Point JA members included Allison Trolio, Laura Yelverton, and Jennifer Swoope. Thank you to Starkville JA for hosting this informative meeting and providing a scrumptious lunch!

JA Member Bonnie Rogers working with the children...

Thank you to West Point Head Coach Chris Chambless and Green Wave football players, Michael Carr and Xavier Hogan for throwing the football and hanging out with the children on Tuesday!

Thank you to Ginny Zepponi and Jessica Glusenkamp for organizing Back to Nature this summer!

This year's Back to Nature theme is "SPORTS"! JA members have planned a fun time with children in our community. Lots of games, crafts and activities will keep the children moving! Coaches from local schools will hang out with the kids and teach them a thing or two about "their sport". Delicious snacks and drinks will be served before the children head home. Back to Nature is Monday, July 6-8 from 9-11am at the Housing Authority on Bugg Street in West Point. JA ladies always enjoy "hanging out" with the children while teaching them life lessons!

Reading is FUNdamental!

JA volunteers read to over 150 children in June! Thank you, ladies!

Every Tuesday in June, JA volunteers pick several books to read to children during Story Hour at the Bryan Public Library. The first Tuesday of every month, except June, JA members volunteer their time to read to local children. It is amazing how over 50 kids listen so intently as the volunteer reads. Story Hour is every Tuesday at 10 a.m.
